Miracle stories for UCLA, UCB?

If my SAT score is above a 1500, and my GPA is an average, but my essays r really good and I have alottof ECs? Also have 6 IGCSES and the IELTS exam, And also I’m applying as an international student from dubai. What are my chances for getting into UCLA, UCB as an international student?

UC’s consider GPA/Test Scores/HS course Rigor/Essays and EC’s in that order of importance. If you do not meet a certain GPA and test score threshold, most likely the rest of the application will not be reviewed. With over 100,000 applications each year, there is some basic weeding out of applications.

Yes there are exceptions and if you have a compelling essay or EC, then you could have a chance. All you can do is apply and hope for the best. No one can predict your chances except the admissions officers reviewing your application.

Yes Honstly thanku so much, but like my essays and my ECs really stand out and I think have some advantage as an international student

Those are secondary factors.

International students, last time I heard, do not have an advantage in the admissions process.

The competition is much stiffer and you have to be able to pay the 55k a year price tag for UCLA and UCB.

If you don’t have the grades or scores, then EC’s/essays won’t matter at all. A 1500 SAT out of 2400 is really pushing it for UCLA and UCB.

What is your GPA? Class rank?

Why not we pay triple the amount u guys do, don’t they want more money? If u have a crap SAT score, ur essays can back it up a lot

Outstanding essays cannot make up for a lower than average GPA or SAT score which are far better indicators for academic success than an essay. Unless you are a recruited athlete or have some really compelling story, an SAT of 1500 will not get you into UCLA/UCB regardless if you are full pay.
Colleges want accept students that will succeed.
