MIS and IS: same thing?

Hi, I am a rising senior looking at colleges and I am applying to undergraduate business schools and am likely to major (or concentrate) in Management Information Systems (MIS). I noticed that some of the schools I am interested in do not offer MIS. For example, NYU Stern has "Information Systems" as a major. Is this the same as MIS? Wharton offers "Operations and Information Management." Is this the same as well?

The Wharton School - Undergraduate Division

Could anyone suggest any other schools strong in MIS? Carnegie Mellon is also on my list and is one of my top choices. So is Boston College (also has Information Systems as a concentration). (I don't want to go to MIT even though I know it is the best when it comes to MIS)

Thanks

Why don’t you want to go to MIT?

Hey. From what I understand YES they are MORE or LESS the same thing. Both Wharton and Stern are business schools and the concentrations u listed basically teach students how to use computers for business and this is what MIS basically is.

If ur still not sure about this just have a look at the curriculum of the schools ur interested in

yeah i have been

i wouldn’t even get into MIT, and I am not that in love with math/science and i dont think it is the right school for me

at my school, San diego state university, it is called IDS ( Information & Decision Systems). I’ve always just assumed it was the same thing.
