I am an international student and a newbie here. I'm not sure if double majoring in MIS and Law would work or not (BTW, how about MIS and Sociology?). Therefore, guys, I would love to have some of your opinions about this!

Thank you!

What are you planning on doing with that combo? I’m guessing that you’re thinking about law, correct? Well econ is supposed to be one of the best majors for prepping people for law school, so maybe an MIS/Econ would be more feasible in 3 ways:

Better for law school (law, pre-law and things like the most respected majors)

If you go on the business-side of things, econ is more useful than law

Econ would overlap somewhat with MIS, so it’d be easier to complete the requirements.

hope that helps

Economics is a better choice, accounting will open more doors, though, and there’s a lot of accounting positions that can make use of law. Also, don’t double major in it, because the only law degrees worth getting are graduate level.

Thank you very much for your helpful suggestions!

BTW, can you guys bring up some colleges that have decent MIS programs? I have heard a lot of good things about the MIS programs of Carlson School at UMN or Eller School at UA. Do you have any idea about the safe range of transfer GPA’s to get into those?

Thanks again, guys!

I don’t think there is a law major in US colleges.
