CSIS Minors

I already eliminated multimedia/web design and Web Communications because they don't interest me and I took a multimedia class in high school and hated it. I was thinking about minoring in Computer Science though not sure. Can any of you help?

I thought about doing a Computer Science minor, but it involves doing a lot of the math that I went into business to avoid! Personally, I now think it’s pointless to add a ComSci minor if you’re an MIS major - if you wanted to be a programmer, just major in ComSci!

I added Speech Communication as a minor. My reasoning? Oral and written communication, along with EFFECTIVE LISTENING, are absolutely essential to career success. These are skills you have to learn and practice, and a ComSci minor won’t give you the opportunity to do that. Since you’re in a business major, you’ll probably be communicating a lot. Therefore, Speech Comm is my recommendation.

As far as furthering your IT skills is concerned, I’d suggest either getting an IT job on campus to gain some real-world experience, or getting some certifications. I’m doing both.

Well, I would only need to take like one math class if I was a computer science minor. It is spposed to be basic math because a preresequite of it is math 501 which is basic algebra.
