Hi guys so yesterday i was caught on 120mph.. now will that affect my admissions to schools ? whether they are private or UC ? (transferring of course)
thanks

Have you spoken to your parents? That is step one. Hopefully they will agree to get an attorney to at least dealy this, so you can honestly answer you have never been convicted. In addition, in my state, speeding is generally a “violation” not a misdemeanor. Dont know at 120, but a lawyer can help. If lawyer can get it down to a violation, then you dont have to disclose on grad school apps

This is what I saw re California

Speeding in the state of California is not a felony or a misdemeanor. It is an infraction that usually comes with a hefty fee.

Common App asks for felonies and misdemeanors

well i was in intake for like 9 hours and then i was released of course my parents know… but the officer told me that i am being charged with a misdemeanor… tho i checked on the common app about what happens if i say yes they ask me to attach a letter of my conviction and to write and explanation to what happened and what i have learned… now with me i didnt mean to get up to a 120… i was actually day dreaming… and the police chased me for a whole mile until i got out of my day dreaming then i noticed the red lights behind me… now i wanted to know since its only speeding although its a misdemeanor will USC (the private school ill apply to) really care about it ?

You really need to talk to your parents, or a lawyer. What exactly are you charged with? If your parents cant or wont help, call up the DA in the town (should be on ticket). Many times people are charged and plead down. You might be charged with resisting arrest, etc.

common app asks if you have been CONVICTED. You have not been convicted. There is either a court date on ticket, or number to call.

haha my parents know… the picked me up when i was released from the intake… and yes i do have a court date… i didnt resist i am charged with reckless driving nothing else… its my first offense EVER… and i have a meeting tonight with a lawyer but still i wanna know what people have to say…

Are you using the common application? It says convicted. You have not been convicted. But I would try to get this plead down to an infraction.

but i will be applying next year… and my court is in march… anyways thanks for the help i will talk to my lawyer about it tonight…

You’re paying him $500/hour to advise you… so ask away…
What make and model of car were you speeding in?

well if he could turn it form a misdemeanor to just a speeding ticket then yes i will pay him… what do you think about my situation ? i was in a gl 450…

dude, i drove 120 miles per hours 2 times in 2 a row
