Misdemeanor on Applications

Hi, im an 18 year old senior and on august 24th i was arrested for Minor in Possession of Alcohol, as well as Obstruction of Official Business (for trying to run away). The officer lessened my charges to one that will simply be noted as a "4th Degree Misdemeanor". I am being convicted on November 24th, 2014. SO, as of today (10-29-14) i am not convicted of anything. I am applying early action to several schools and am wondering if should answer "no" on my common app to conviction of a misdemeanor. Technically i haven't been convicted YET.

I am also interested in how much a 4th degree misdemeanor affects the application process. Being a high school senior, i picture colleges laughing at my application and throwing it away. Any advice or knowledgable comments would be greatly appreciated

NO, no and no. One of my daughter’s similar and I was told no. She had two in high school, one she ran away too at a party! One she 17 one 18. You are not convicted so of course no and my daughters offense no contest and paid so no. You open a can of worms and in your case you truly are not convicted.

Of course, by saying yes you could have the opportunity to explain how you have resolved the problem and used it as an opportunity to become a better person… just a thought.
