Misleading "Student Profile" Info?

Most colleges have a page where they list the average GPA and test scores for the class admitted in the previous year. Scripps College claims that the average high school GPA of its current freshman class was 4.13. That has to be weighted, right? Pitzer College reports a GPA of 3.93. Now, how do I figure out if that’s weighted or unweighted? I was going to send an email to the school but I decided to ask on here first in case this was common knowledge. I know this doesn’t make much of a difference but it’ll give me a better understanding of how likely I am to be accepted into certain schools.

I checked the Common Data Set and each of those colleges does report those figures. it is supposed to be reported on a 4.0 scale as it says so. So I don’t know what’s up with Scripps. Pitzer is likely correct unweighted gpa.

Well it seems the Scripps CDS DOES show the 4.12.http://www.scrippscollege.edu/assessir/wp-content/uploads/sites/30/files/CDS_2014-2015_FINAL.pdf That should have been turned back by the DOE since it’s obviously not out of a 4.0.

Pitzer reports a 3.83. http://pitweb.pitzer.edu/institutional-research/wp-content/uploads/sites/33/2015/02/PZ-CDS-201415-Final.pdf I agree that’s most likely UW.

Thanks guys! You’ve been incredibly helpful.
