and on top of that rocker, Its just a stupid question! what does knowing where America is on the map have to do with everything? Just because it entails states doesn't mean you have to throw out some random dumb question like that. It seems relevant to the comptetion but then again its also asinine.

I pitty the poor girl! If anybody should be rebuked, it should be the people in charge of all the questions!

I will like not have you like vultures besmirching the good name of Miss South like Carolina as such like this. She is a like very sensitive, thoughtful, and like intellectual girl as such. It's like obvious as such that there are simply like a bunch of like angry people jealous at this like adorable princess's life success as such.

Yeah, that was my mistake; thanks for the correction.

On a related note, I love the ending to this version;

The question wasn't stupid at all. They always seem to ask questions regarding social problems in the world and it's always something about world peace and spreading literacy. They can't keep on asking the same exact question for decades so they sought to touch the education issue by brining up the map statistic. She was smart enough to see what they were looking for by mentioning education, but it went downhill from then. South Africa? Did she mean to say Darfur? I can't imagine what South African issues she (or people who tutored her for this stuff) thought of. Surely not the apartheid, LOL.

What were the other questions on that pageant? Anybody knows?

It's not that hard to answer a simple question like that. Nervous or not, anyone should be able to form a coherent sentence that's at least somewhat related to the actual question.

Gold, but its not about it being hard or simple

The sexy blonde was in front of who knows how many people and you're bound to get stage fright....you know what happens when you get stage fright?....YOU START SAYING STUPIDITY!

well, I think she didn't expect the question, that's why she screwed up and didn't know what to say and just said random stuff. yeah she's pretty, talented but not very smart. she's going to some school to learn fashion design, so i guess she doesn't have to be smart.

And the question wasn't stupid. I'm amazed that 1/5 can't locate the US on the map. are they like below 5 years old?

if you think what she did was stupid? try searching "americans are not stupid" on youtube and see (it's kinda bias because part of the clip was edited and cut to make american look stupid), but some people's answer make you wanna cry.

75% of all statistics are made up.

The people on this forum are finally learning to speak proper English.

I still don't get something. Why would she even mention The Iraq? The question is about the US Americans (ie US citizens) who can't locate the US on a map, not the citizens of The Iraq or of the Asian countries...

the other question was : at what point in your life did you grow up?
and the girl said a one-sentence response.
well, how would you guys answer the question on why 1/5 of americans can't locate the US on a map?

1.not everyone is interested in geography.
2.if you don't travel abroad, you don't need to located US on the map of world. It may be more necessary for some people to locate Syracuse on the map of New York state.
