Does the SAT curve their scores?? I took the SAT Jan. 22
On math I missed one question and got a 770
On reading I missed two questions and got a 740
On writing I missed three questions and got a 660
Why is there such a big drop with writing??

The writing section score also reflects the score you got on your essay (out of a possible 12). It should say on your score report what your essay score was.

I missed 5 on CR and got 740 as well… Perhaps you should double check.
On WR I missed 3 and got 680? But my essay was an 8 (which was god-awful), so I guess yours was lower else you would have gotten the same/higher score as I.

I missed 3 on the Writing and got a 700. If I remember correctly, the essay counts for about 30% of the section score, and the curve on each section varies slightly from one test date to another.

1st of all sorry guys for replying so late…I’m new to this site- didn’t realize you guys had posted, I thought I’d get some notification or something haha.

Ahhhhh, I see…yeah I didn’t know the essay score affected the writing…otherwise I would have taken it more seriously- I’m like it’s pointless to put too much effort into this essay if colleges don’t ask for the essay score. lol…yeah the essay score was a 7, maybe I should consider retaking it now?

And yes, correction, I’m not sure where I got a 2 from, but I missed 5 on C.R.
