Hello everyone. I recently decided I was going to apply to Florida State University and I just checked online their 1st deadeline was oct. 15. However, they have a 2nd deadline which is in January and I think i might apply in that pool.
HOWEVER, does anyone know if this jeopardizes my chances of getting in?
i compared myself using my high school website to everyone who has applied to FSU from my high school and I am a top applicant, i am also an ethnic minority at FSU, and lastly i am out of state.

therefore, i believed that i would be offered great scholarship money however i'm not sure if they will still hand out scholarships to people who missed their early action deadline.

please let me know what you think about them still giving out scholarships and if its worth it to apply.
its a safety school for me, but i'm doing it because i love that it is a diverse school and also the scholarship oppurtunities.

thank you!

For most public colleges these statements are contradictory. State colleges generally use their funding to award grants to IN STATE students. They get part of their funding from state taxes. That being said I don’t know if you hurt yourself missing the EA deadline. I rather doubt it.

If you’re really a top applicant, I wouldn’t worry about getting in. As far as the money goes, however, the scholarships FSU gives out aren’t significant for OOS costs and you aren’t likely to get them because you’re not in state. What IS significant is that FSU offers full and partial OOS tuition waivers; i.e. you would pay less than the average OOS applicant. They don’t give out a lot of these, however. It’s possible that it would have been advantageous to apply by the first deadline to have a better shot at those, but I am by no means an expert.
If I were you, I would still apply. It’s well worth the shot. (…but I may be biased because I just really like FSU. I’m an OOS applicant as well.)
