Missed Financial Aid Deadline

Am I screwed? Is there absoutely no chance for me getting aid? My dad is being a prick about it, saying that he won't do it because there is no point.

room and board at cornell is overrated. the winter isn't that cold.

email them asap and tell them what hapepned. however, its a long shot, if u get into cornell looks like ull have to take out loans ; /

they'll look at your application even if it's late, but you probably won't get much aid from Cornell.

Considering it will probably take them several weeks to process all the application (Remember the fin aid stuff goes to the same place as the other Cornell related stuff) no one will even know. Just make sure its sent out by tomorrow so the postmark is Jan 3rd and they get it by Saturday or Monday of next week. You will be fine.

I'm ****ed about this, I didn't know that there was a seperate financial aid application for Cornell.

yeah its unfortunate but you shoulda researched into the school. Cornell has many different requirements like your counselor recs had to come in a bigger enlarged envelope and not the standard ones.

i reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally think they'll overlook any discrepancies in envelope sizes as they never clearly state what they want on the website and it's just going to be torn open and photocopied by an assistant anyways.

as for financial aid: you're in the same boat as many of us. there's another thread where a bunch of people all said that they'd just postmark it the 3rd and cross their fingers.

it's not like gerald ford's death and subsequent day of honor were pre-arranged.

best of luck to all!

Dammit, they should put these things on common app. I put them in normal envelopes. I don't think that will make a difference, as I know the kid from my school that got in ED and he used normal envelopes.

I don't think that they would screw the large number of applicants who will get their financial aid app in a few days late. My dad is convinced that they would, but my feeling is that they just don't want people trying to send it in weeks late, after they're already done with the rest of the applications.

Do Any Other Colleges Have This Friggin Today Deadline?

Not any of my other schools.

BC wanted 2005 tax returns, that's the only other one on my list. Wellesley has ridiculously early deadlines for everything though so at least the FAFSA will soon be FOREVER. actually that's a lie. UNTIL NEXT YEAR.

is this really true? has someone has any experience with not getting aid from cornell because they sent it one day late?

do they actually look at the date? (they do have like 10 000 to file)

Yeah I *ed myself up royally as well by missing this deadline. Godd, and Cornell is a college that I figured I have a pretty good shot of getting into as well...so I'm gonna be even more *ed if I don't get any aid. Why couldn't they just say their deadline was December 30th since it's an obvious fact that post offices are closed on Sunday and Mondey??

i hope they dont see that mine is 2 days late .... crap

i hope that what was said above is true, that they have so many to look at, they dont really see the dates and stuff, as long as it arrives withint 2-3 days

It's only a day late... the deadline was January 1st

Since even if you had put it in the mail on the 1st I think it'd still have a postmark for the 3rd, I'd say mail it and hope for the best. That's what I'm doing, anyway.

Im sure they will take it. U just better hope they dont make a comment on it, because it would look bad if admissions saw u didnt even take the time to observe the schools deadlines.

stop trying to scare everyone away. admissions and finaid: different. envelope sizes: probably negligible.

on another note, there will be a lot of mail coming and going tomorrow. thank god for online apps.

was the post office really closed on jan1 too?
