So like a dummy, I decided to apply to a lot of colleges. It got overwhelming and I missed some financial aid deadlines. Some of the schools include Bates, Smith and Princeton. I’m applying as an independent student.
I know that Smith has that 64 -credit rule and I can’t qualify for financial aid until I earn 64 credits. I sent them a letter explaining why I could not get my forms in on time (a special circumstance)
For Bates, I didn’t notice the financial aid deadline. I still applied for financial aid, however I fear that they’ll call me irresponsible ( gosh I am irresponsible).
Yes I did :). I sent them an email explaining my situation in early December. I had to file a dependency appeal form, but it took some time to gather the documents for that form. I recently sent the documents through mail ( as instructed by some colleges ) and uploaded them to the IDOC on college board. I did that before the Feb 1st dealine for financial aid. However, I didn’t notice that I had to apply for financial aid for Bates on Jan 1st :(. I mailed my documents to Bates and Smith , but I don’t know if they received them yet :(.
I think it will depend on the school so you should call and inquire of each school whether you will be considered for financial aid.If they are need-blind schools, chances are they have not yet looked at financial aid documents and they may still be able to work with you to make sure your paperwork is in order. Good luck!
Since I am applying as an independent student there are some forms that I needed to upload to the IDOC. In addition, I had to mail my dependency appeal form for each college because they do not accept them through IDOC.
