I made a stupid mistake of missing the housing deadline, not really thinking that I would end up at UF. I did pay the $25 a few months back, but I didn't pay the $200 advanced rent payment since I wasn't 100% sure and didn't want to take the financial risk, already being tight on money. Now I'm on the waitlist for a housing contract. Does anyone know what this entails and what my chances are of getting off the waitlist? With this option do I have any preferences in housing arrangements whatsoever or should I give up the thought of on-campus housing and start scoping out apartments?

you do realize living off campus is more expensive than living on, correct?

Techno, was that for Fall?

Not necessarily true, tebow. Gainesville has a glut of apartments on the market and they are giving away cash back, tv's, furniture package, etc. My son stayed in a gorgeous 4/4 this year and paid $499/mo. This included all utilities. That is cheaper that on campus. You can also cook for yourself and save money on having to eat out all the time.

Where was that Helpful Mom?

tzais01: Yes.

I've gotten a few more communications from the school about the waitlist, but the chances of getting off aren't looking too hot or will be extremely last minute. Thanks for the info, Helpful Mom!

Gainesville Place. The nice thing about it is that the bus to UF goes right inside their complex.

Thanks, Helpful Mom. We are in such a quandry with D being accepted to Spring but requesting the term change to Summer B. We'll get housing for Summer they say, but waitlisted for Fall. So we're going next weekend for apartment hunting so we have backup plan in place. That bad part is we won't find out until May. I'll check out GP.
