The deadline for the fafsa in my state is March 1st, and today is March 7th, am I all out of hope? I didn't know the deadline was so early, I feel sick and the thought of not being able to go to college for a dumb reason like this pains me. Please tell me my options if anyone knows what to do in such a predicament!!
Thank you for your time.

It’s in and you’ve done what you can do now. If you are applying to state schools, it very well may affect your financial aid award.

Call the FA office at your school(s). Explain the situation to them and ask if there is anything you can do at this point.

Unfortunately, at many state schools, they have a limited “pot” of need-based FA dollars and when it is gone, it is gone. Acting quickly is critical.

That weird… I missed the date for my daughter too last year. I just did her 2012-2013 and her 2013-2014 together. And her still got her money from last year.

Agree with rmldad’s advice that you should contact the financial aid office of the school(s) you’ve applied to. In some cases, missing the deadline will make you ineligible for certain state aid. In other cases, it just impacts your priority for state aid . . . meaning you might still be able to get funds, but only if there’s enough to go around. Call the school financial aid office and find out.

Either way, missing the deadline should not impact your eligibility for a federal Pell grant (if you’re eligible) or for federal student loans.

Thanks everyone with for the advice, I greatly appreciate it, this is reassuring news! Thank you all so much!!
