My son will be a sophomore this Fall. We just received a Fin Aid letter which includes the NMF scholarship. I was confused at first, but when I looked at the NMF website, there was a paragraph about having sent out letters in March (and then April, if March was missed) for renewal. This is news to me! We did not receive any letters that I can recall. Now I am in a bit of a panic since we may loose some much needed money. Has anyone had this experience? Any luck with getting this sorted out? Thanks!

Can you clarify?

If the FA letter INCLUDES the NMF scholarship, then why were you confused? you’re saying that it’s there. Or did you mistype?

Either way, call NMCorp tomorrow and find out if there’s a problem and if it’s fixable. Sometimes they just want a copy of last year’s transcript or some verificiation that the student is still in school.

Sorry if my post was a bit confusing.

I saw the scholarship listed in the FA letter, but I don’t recall ever getting any renewal notifications. I am concerned that the FA department at my son’s college is assuming that he has the NMF scholarship for next year, but since we didn’t fill out any paperwork, he actually does not have this scholarship. Does that make sense?

Is it college-sponsored or corporate-sponsored?

Contact NMCorp and talk to them. They’re very helpful. Their number is on the website.

D’s renewal letter came to the home address. She had to go online to confirm she was still a full-time student. Got a confirmation, with a note they would contact her only if there was a problem. On her letter is the number for the NM Scholarship Services Department – (857) 866-5100. After calling NMSC, I’d think a call to financial aid is in order as well. Good luck!!!

The letter comes every year, so it is something to watch for. My daughter’s comes to the house also, I call her and ask to open it, and then I go online and renew it. I would call NMC as well.
