Missed preferred filing date for CSS profile— how concerned should I be?

Date was November 1 for EA applications, did not know that I needed to file by that time, am filing this weekend. Should I contact the office of financial aid about this mistake?

Yes, you should call the financial aid office ASAP.

Agreed…call the financial aid office. My guess is this won’t be a huge issue because it is EA…and you don’t have to make a decision until May 1… But only the financial aid office at the school can tell you what’s up.

I believe the css profile would only affect your financial aid, not your admission. There are students do not even need to submit css profile if they do not expect any financial aid. If you are really late for submitting css profile, you may end up on the bottom of the pile for obtaining financial aid which may affect the amount of aid or delay the notice of award.

Most of the time that I have seen, EA schools do not give out fin aid and merit until RD awards go out.
However, that is not always the case. IF this particular school gives out fin aid info early with an EA acceptance, and if you have checked off that you are applying for fin aid, your package might be held up at fin aid without the info. ALso some schools do give EA candidates first dibs on fin aid goodies, and you could loose out on that. So, you do need to talk to the school to make sure that the lack of the fin aid info doesn’t hold up anything else in your process, and if they can still take the app and still give you an EA answer.
