Missed the PSAT reporting deadline...

Hey guys, with all that was going on (APs, projects, exams..etc)...I missed the website www.collegeplans.org (I think) deadline for PSAT reporting service for people who were NMSQT Commended (I got a 212 in TX)...Anywho, does this matter as far as my favorite college not receiving this score through that service...aka..Can't I just just put my score and say "NMSQT commended" on the College APP itself?...Thanks in advance.

edit: I'm a junior & i DID get that commened letter with the SN/PW

anyone? please.....

You can definitely write commended on your apps.
We also missed the deadline for my daughter. I just don't think it matters that much to the schools, so many kids who are applying to top schools are commended.
We responded in time when my son was commended but he ended up not choosing either of the schools to which we had requested the info. be sent.
On the other hand, I suppose it expresses interest, so if you love a school be sure and let them know how interested you are.

Whoa, did we have to do something like that for Semifinalist too? Because I sure didn't...

Arti,
You should have gotten a letter explaining the process. I think with semifinalists, you get to send to scores to a larger number of schools.

As a semifinalist, you can only pick two schools. Additionally, from my experience and from what I gather from others', those two schools are chosen on the basis of scholarship aid, not necessarily to show interest in them.

To the OP, don't worry. You can just put commended on the app. I didn't get a single thing from either of my listed schools (UVA and W&M)... the reporting had very little consequence, in my experience.

Thanks guys. Heres the update: I called National Merit Scholarship Corporation and asked the lady if I could still submit my score (212 in TX: Commended) to the two colleges, and she said I can't mail it anymore, but I can still do it over the phone with her. She was very nice and the whole thing took about 5 min. She asked for my name, school code, and state. Hope this helps someone.

It's not necessary. It doesn't mean anything to the colleges... It only matters for the next go-round - if you are a NMSF. (Unfortunately both my son and you probably won't make the cutoff for Texas. It was 217 last year.)

:( I missed my deadline too... but it probably won't matter as previous posters said since the colleges would be flooded with interest-showing notices and my commended student status won't give me any aid. I'll just put it on my apps :)

I named two colleges, one i am seriously considering going to and the other more because it filled the blank, but i want to change that second one now. Is it too late? Don't semifinalists/finalists get to name a first and second choice school later anyway? and do they have to be the two initially named ones?
