I made a big mistake and listened to a classmate who told me that TAG started September 30th. I was going to tag UCSD because I do have over a 3.5 and all other requirements. What kind of chance do I have getting in without TAG for next year? My major is applied mathematics.

Also the classmate has GPA of 3.26 and wishes to attend Irvine for Economics. What kind of chance does he have? He grades show a positive improvement in performance.

Moral of the story: Never trust your friends and do your own research.

Back on topic, you have a chance since your GPA looks good, as for your friend, he has less of a chance but still possible.

I think this friend didn’t want you to get into UCSD so he told you a wrong date. I would definitely reconsider him as a friend. BTW when have you ever heard of something starting at the end of the month???

Well, your chances like Johnny said are pretty good for UCSD, but depends if the major is impacted, ie the sciences and engineering. I’m guessing he TAG’d to Irvine?? If not, his chances are slightly slim since many will tag and have priority over him.

Good Luck!

what’s sad is i bet the guy/girl TAGGED 20 days before.

according to your post history you have been an active member since july when you came back from a hiatus from 2008.

You have been hanging out in the Transfer thread and didn’t know about TAG? with ALLLLL the TAG threads that have been made, and you still missed it?

tough break…

That’s right! I did know the deadline before Ive just been wrapped up in admission to my #1 school, which is a private university. So really this mistake isn’t so bad. The other person realized the tag deadline ended before I did. He logged on and showed me on a computer, so he hasn’t signed TAG either. He’s worrying more than me. I guess he should apply to more UCs?

You can still get accepted, I highly recommend you earn a GPA above the TAGGED people. This will make you seem really competitive against a regular transfer applicants.
