I just received an email from Emory about 10 minutes ago. The email said that I had been accepted and was definitely from the email address of an automatic machine... But, the odd thing was that the title was "missing information". Has this happened to anyone else? Was it just a very disappointing case of human error?

I got the same email…I’m trying to call them but every line is busy.

Any luck, kmerry?

nope, and now the office is technically closed. I’m still trying to call but it just rings and rings. I’ve even tried calling my specific admissions counselor and that just goes to voicemail.
Something is definitely up though, I hope it was just a mistake of how they notified people and not the actual acceptance.

Please report any success with talking to them. Did the same thing happen to you, petrovich?

just received an email…it was a mistake.

A damn shame.

wait…kmerry…what did your second email say? i’m freaking out because i didn’t get any “missing info” email, what does it mean?!? i’m so confused! this is so unprofessional of emory!!

“We apologize sincerely for sending the wrong email today. The following email is the one you should have received, as your file is incomplete and has not been reviewed for admission yet.”
and they say they’re missing my transcripts and counselor rec form…which i sent over a month ago.
very frustrated with them now.

so isaprilsoon the reason you didn’t get one is probably because they have all your information, I’m assuming they took the list of people that were to be sent the missing info email and accidentally sent them the email for the admitted students open house (where it said at the top: congratulations on your acceptance to Emory!)

I’m also frustrated with Emory as they are missing my sat and act scores… both of which were confirmed sent 2 months ago.

kmerry and mmusicallover: the same thing happened to me! (I actually just posted about it) I wonder what’s going on. I hope it isn’t like the one time some college in California sent acceptances to students that they denied I’m so frustrated! I’m calling them first thing tomorrow morning!

kmerry

same thing happened to me!!! i sent my counselor rec and transcript like 2 months ago… and resent them both about 2 weeks ago. now they got my transcript but still missing my rec!!! im really frustrated now… :(

ME TOO,
now they are missing my recs from counselor, which comes WITH my transcript, which they confirmed of receiving…
It is rather puzzling.
I was actually excited at first after I read the first line of the email despite of the subject of the email being “missing items” :p

do you guys know when decisions are released?

wow can’t believe Emory made such a stupid mistake
@aetasaeterna, probably April 1st?

Emory seems to have the tendency to have missing files. Just have your counselor call the university to get this straighten. If they still state you are missing any files, then have your counselor fax them the information once more.

This happened to me last week and now they have all of my files.

it seems like Emory is missing LOTS of ppl’s counselor rec… whats going on!!!

dont worry about it. they probably already have all of your stuff. it just that opus gets updated very slowly. plus the big snow in few month ago messed up their mailing thing (I got 6 letters at the same day talking about the same thing few weeks ago). emory updated the opus/email server this year so its all new.

@emory83
that just made me feel a lot better… either way im calling the office tmrw to find it out…

I emailed my counselor tonight, and she said that it is alright, because this happened before. She’s just gonna call the admissions office tomorrow/fax one anyways.
