hey guys, i'm applying for manag.economics at ucsd. however by the end of next spring i'll be missing 2 preqs ( calculus 1d and linear algebra 2a). Without those two prereqs will I get automatically rejected? I know that for UCLA and Berkeley they automatically rejects you if you don't finish the prereqs.however for ucsd..i don't know. thanks!

i think it might hurt... do you not have time to complete them in the spring?

yeah i'll only be at cal 1c. do you think i can petition to finish it over the summer? i'm actually deciding between two majors. economics or manag.economics. manag.economics require one more math course ( 2a) than economics ( it only requires students to go up to 1d) .so which one should i choose?

you will basically be missing all the additional pre'reqs that go w/ that major as opposed to economics. I think you're better of applying for econ.

actually, no the only thing i'll be missing is the calculus math 1d and 21(linear algebra). does anyone think missing two reqs instead of one ( for economics i'll only be missing one) will give me a shot of getting admitted? any feedback would be great!

I spoke to SD directly about this, and basically it "shouldn't" affect your chances at admission since the only adverse affect will be you can't take upper div classes yet. She advised that if I had time to take calc 3 and linear algebra, than it would allow me to hit the ground running as soon as I transfer. Another option would be to sign a TAG and not worry about the admissions process as much.

I can't, I've already signed one with DAVIS. does anybody think that missing 2 prereqs might be a problem in the admissions process?

you can sign multiple tags, just thought i throw that out...

yeah but UCSD only takes IGETC certified applicants as TAGS for fall 09. However,
The reason I do not want to follow the IGETC is because I was studying at a university in a foreign country for 2 years and so I've taken alot of the arts/humanities/social sciences courses. so if I follow the IGETC again that will just be wasting my time.( I'll have too many credits as well. I already have 67.5 quarter transferrable units. and i'm taking 22 quarter units this fall. )

the reason why I am asking is because UCSD accepts students who has completed the IGETC with just a 3.o GPA or above. but I don't know if there is a chance that they accept students without the IGETC with a gpa THAT'S not 3.8-4.0

I was told by a counselor you cannot likely get a tag with ucsd accepted without a 3.4+gpa

yeah but i have a 3.64 GPA. and if I finish fall quarter with a 4.0 i'll have a even higher gpa. just wondering. is there anyone here who got accepted to UCSD without getting IGETC certified? what was your gpa?

thanks chibi i didn't even know we can sign multiple tags
