I'm currently applying to TASP 2014 and have wanted to go there for the past few years. However, to my dismay, I recently realized that I will have to miss three days of the program; I am running for an international position in a service organization that I am extremely dedicated to, and the election is held at the beginning of July. It is imperative that I attend, insofar as it defines my senior year position in this organization.

I know that TASP has strict attendance guidelines ("Can I come late or leave early from the program? We expect our scholarship recipients to attend the entire six weeks of the program." Telluride Association: Our Programs: For High School Students: Summer Program for Juniors (TASP): FAQ), but both programs are really large priorities for me. In fact, I'm missing the latter half of the elections as well as another college prep course sponsored by my scholarship organization.

So I mainly have three questions:
1) Has anyone ever missed a few days of TASP?
2) If so, when did you alert the admissions committee?
3) How did you convince them to grant you permission?

Thanks so much in advance! I'm partially freaking out right now.
