On a personal note, Michael is my good friend Kim's boyfriend and a really sweet guy. If you could just spread the word about him, that would be great! If you know anyone in Thailand, DEFINITELY let them know about it as well.

Saw this yesterday

I can’t believe that his parents reported him missing. He is 29 and according to the report, has considerable experience in traveling. L

Let him live his life.

i don’t get it, couldn’t he have called his parents to say he wasn’t showing up or something?

If he’s 29, maybe he didn’t feel the need to let people know he was going to miss his curfew.

That said, it is generally a good idea to let people know where you are going to be and when you are going to be back.

Why is college student even a relevant fact? Its not important, yst somehow are are supposed to feel sadder because, oh college student.

just a per peeve of mine

^ i agree

also, he’s 29… overbearing parents much? Oo

@ Sengoku

That’s only if you act like a drunk, rowdy and rude barbarian. When I was traveling through South East Asia and China, Thailand’s one of the safest, and most friendly places I pasted through.

By the way, does your name have anything to do with One piece? =)

so if you had a son and he didn’t show up when you planned to meet him in Japan, didn’t contact you for weeks, which is all out of character apparently, you wouldn’t think much of it?

Wow what kind of adult leaves his parents stranded in Japan. :(

Perhaps he needed a break from his parents and everyone else? Yes, I think adults should be courteous and tell each other when they expect to return if they are going to be late, or have decided to stay longer.

But this was a 29 year old man,not an 18 year old college freshman. Why does the headlinesay COLLEGE STUDENT

I go to school parttime and am almost 50. Guess if I go missing itshould say “College student” to get more sympathy.

Kids go missing all the time in this country, teens, and yet we have some wayward adult and it gets all the headlines. Noticed he was white, which I guess gets you the publicity.

^^
white has nothing to do with it…

Here’s a quote from an article that explains things. It sounds like he emailed his parents, but they didn’t get the email.

You will notice that when there have been people missing and they are white there is alot of coverage. Other groups don’t get as much coverage, sad to say. SO, yes, white has alot to do with it.

PS- i am white

The white comment made me think of Family Guy when they said on the news that some little girl went missing and then everybody was worried until they revealed she wasn’t white – then everyone stopped caring.

Sorry, that was random.

Ha. Just about all ethnic people know you better be careful on vacation! The US will not be looking for you! When my friend and I went on Spring Break we joked that police would probably play garbage can basketball with the missing persons reports.

And that Family Guy episode was funny.
