Missing Financial Aid Documents

I know there has been some controversy over whether an e-mail asking for missing financial aid documents indicates acceptance.

Does anybody know if the aid office only processes accepted applications, or are these two offices independent? Thanks.

WOW!! I’ve never thought of that before. WHere did you hear the rumor? I just got that missing aid email a few minutes ago. I hope you are right!

This is super super exciting!

I was deferred EA, then literally the day before RD decisions came out, I got that email, then the next day I got in!

But you never know - there could be a lapse in communication between aid office and the adcom

I guess the only way to know definitively is if somebody on CC who got rejected also received that e-mail.

um, I haven’t gotten any email like that… but I’m almost positive I submitted all of my financial aid documents? ahhh!

Would we get this email if we didn’t even apply for financial aid?

I totally didn’t see this thread and made my own asking the same ques…
I got the same email…
Anybody know anything 'bout this?

OH ****, the website says the deadline for Financial aid for EA applicants was in November!

I thought it was Feb. 1 for everyone

Am I screwed or will I have the chance to apply if I get accepted???

They’ll still consider your application, but you won’t necessarily get a financial aid decision in January along with the other EA applicants. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

@Esplin: I emailed them about not having the Fin aid App on time because of financial reasons they responded (this was around mid-november)

"Yes, we will accept these later. If you are interested in an Early Aid Estimate, please try to submit by the end of the month. If you are unable to do so, then it is still okay to submit the application by the regular February deadline.

Thank you,

College Aid"

I hope that’s the case!

I got the email. It asked me to send my parents 2008 tax returns.

So, did anyone not send in their parents 2008 tax returns AND not get an email?

Because if they didn’t ask for that from everybody then it might mean that people who got the email were admitted.

I said I was applying for financial aid, and never sent anything in, and didn’t get the email…I’m honestly on the verge of tears right now…

@musictomyears: I really don’t wanna build up false hope for this crew nor for myself, but I’ve been looking at past threads with similar predicaments and it seems as if everyone who has received that email has been admitted in the past years.
It would make sense… I mean we’re only days away from their releasing their decisions and they’re prob making the packets…

Again i’m only a hopeful like you guys so …

Whew, thanks for the responses guys.

But now I wish i had read about the EA fin aid so I could have gotten an email about missing information : (

I mean the email is not a sure fire sign of being accepted, but I’m certain that those who received the email are mighty pleased and even more relieved!

I really hope this is the case. I had the thought initially when they sent me an email a week or so ago. I figured they wouldn’t care if they weren’t going to give you an estimate .But then i thought about the connection between admissions and financial aid and was curious as to how independent they were of one another. Again, Im hoping this is the case, but i don’t want to hold onto this in case i end up being denied or deferred. But i am so anxious, nervous, and excited. As decisions approach, my love of UoC increases and i really cannot wait. I’m hoping all my hard work with the application and essays pay off. Good luck to all!

If we applied for financial aid and sent all the documents in on time, but have received no such email…that’s okay, right? I know it probably is but, like most here, I’m freaking out haha

Fu** my life.

I’d hazard a guess that you guys who have received those e-mails are in; why would they request FA documents (this late) from people who were rejected/deferred?

BAH. I did not apply for FA (and don’t plan too) so I’m going to have to find out the old-fashioned way (by internet, of course.)

Well, I didn’t get an email. But I’m positive I submitted all finaid documents.

I got an email! This is awesome, but I still can’t wait until the real decisions are sent out.
