Hey everyone. I am an incoming freshman and I'm wondering about the availability of classes if I miss freshman orientation. Will I be able to sign up for classes such as General Chem, calculus, and other courses required to pass the pre-chem major? I live practically on the other side of the world and it is more than a bit difficult for me to actually get to an orientation during the time period it is available. Will I be able to get into these classes without attending an orientation session or am I out of luck? Please respond soon, it would be really helpful to know.

anyone help please?

There is a good chance this classes will fill up before you get to sign up for them, but if you crash them, there is a good chance that you’ll get in. I know quite some people that did not go to orientation but were still able to get into the class they needed such as chem and calc.

What do you mean by crash them?

Anyone ? Please?

there’s no reason to miss orientation…youre gonna be paying at least $11k for tuition, but orientation is only $300…and there are times throughout the summer

i believe crashing a class is showing up to a class that you couldnt register for, and if there’s room in the class or if the professor likes you, you’ll be given an opportunity to register for that class

As I have said before, I live overseas…
So, attending orientations is more than a little difficult for me. Does UCSB offer any other way to register for classes?

Call the school and try to find out your pass time. A friend of mine skipped orientation due to being overseas and still registered
