Missing I-day!

No I’m not missing, but the thunderstorm season in SE Texas is brewing up ferociously now. I doubt anyone has the answer, but I figure its a good hypothetical. IF flights out of here are cancelled due to bad weather and we can’t report to CO in time for inprocessing, what does the Academy do? I’m sure it happens every year for one reason or another.

Well my flight got cancelled for summer seminar and i couldn't make it in until that night. I just called the academy and told them what hapenned and they had someone waiting for me once i got to the academy to make sure i was caught up on everything i missed. I'm sure I-Day would probably be the same.

but im sure it would be a LOT worse filling in the gaps.

I've also though about that happening. Though any storm near a major airport would affect a large number of incomming cadets.

Indeed, its funny too. I know here in the Houston area we have at least 25 incoming cadets based on our in town orientation. I'll be on the same flight as many of them, which brought about funny/shocking images if a plane was delayed!

The Academy will do whatever it can to get you there as quickly as possible. It ever only affects a small number of people, but rest assured... missing a flight that gets cancelled due to weather will not mean you'll miss BCT! ;)
Honestly, though, hope you make it there on time or you will be behind the power curve.

Stupid question or not, what exactly do we do on I-Day? I mean, i know we get issued our items and other things, but what are we issued and what else do we do?

i asked my brother whose a grad of 05 and he said that I-Day would be the longest day of our life. We get sent around the academy all day getting all types of shots, getting yelled at and getting tons of differen't clothes/ equipment. You spend the entire day trying not to mess up, which ofcourse we all will do haha.

Thanks usafa2010. That's kind of what I thought it would be like. I'm just worried because I think i'm going to be a little late.

Do we find out which Squadron we're in on I-Day? And also, where do we stay that night?

We get our rooms for basic that night as well as our basic flights. You should be able to figure out the squadron from that.

So our rooms/roommates for Basic are different than our rooms/roommates for the Academic year?

Patriot,

Check your private messages. It seems that the e-mail that I sent you through this forum didn't get through.

I got it, I sent you an e-mail in return. I'm not sure if that got through though.
