My parents are divorced, and I haven't been in contact with my dad for quite a while- all the phone #s and addresses of his have changed, and theres basically no way to get a hold of him.

What should I do when I file financial aid forms? The CSS profile requires the "non-custodial" parent to fill out something....

...and how will this affect my financial aid packages?

Thanks in advance!

Different schools will look at your situation differently. Many will ask file for a non-custodial waiver, where someone outside of your family (ex. school counselor) will have to attest to the veracity of your statement.

If your dad is paying child support, that will consitute contact.

He's not paying child support, so where would I get one of these "non-custodial waivers"?

the college will send one to you when they review the FA application.
