It is as the title says guys. By the time my spring 2010 semester is over I would be missing organic chemistry B for UC Berkeley and the genetics class for UCLA, UCI and UCD. I just wanted to know how big of an impact this would have on my admission.

I’m pretty sure you have to complete a series for any of the classes in the series to transfer. So they might consider you as missing organic chemistry A as well. I wish I knew where I read this, but I’m pretty sure it’s the case.

On your myBerkeleyApp update, it should show which percentage of prereqs you need in order to be competitive for your major. Mine is 80%, but most of the prereqs for my major are impossible to find.

I am actually going to be applying for the Fall of 2011, but I am just so worried that I won’t gain admission because of missing pre-requisites. I am already 2 years behind for college and now I may have to take another year to complete the pre-requisites.

2 years behind, what, most people attending college? Don’t be so melodramatic. You’re undefinably far ahead of most people in general (i.e. when including people not attending college). By your apparent standard, I’m “behind” by 5 years.

Just finish as many prereqs as you can, apply and hope for the best. If it doesn’t work out, apply again.

Empathy is right. U r a bioengineering major. Just that alone puts you ahead the general public

agreed. XD I’m somewhere around the “4 years behind” mark myself. Good luck! :)

You’re applying for fall of next year and you can’t finish o-chem and genetics? Can I ask why? It seems like you have plenty of time. Shoot, I commuted 45mi (roundtrip) twice a week last semester to fullfil my genetics requirement for UCLA. Also, I don’t know about your o-chem situation because I’ve heard (from my o-chem professor) that Cal won’t even accept it unless you score above an 80% on the ACS exam; which you typically take at the end of the second half. I think UCLA holds their students to this as well. Can anyone confirm this?

I took general bio 1A and struggled with it this semester. So I am taking it again during the summer at CSUN. In addition to general bio 1A, I would be taking Calc 1 and general chem 1A at CSUN. There are two summer sessions for CSUN so I am hoping that they will allow me to take general chem 1B in the second session. If this is possible, then I would be able to take organic chem A and B in the fall and spring. Calc 2 would be covered in the fall, but I realized that I can’t take calc 3, linear algebra and different equations in the spring. That would just be too much.

linear, DE, and cal 3 can be done in one sem. now i dont recommend doing so, however.
