I received an e-mail informing me that I never filled out my Princeton financial aid supplement a few days ago. I doubt that any assumptions can be made about what this may mean, but humor me: could this hint toward admissions?

I’ve received the same email as well and in the past years it looks as if several people have discussed this whole financial aid notification=acceptance theory. It seems as if most ppl who did receive the email did get in, but again correlation doesn’t equal causation. I don’t want to get my hopes up.

I also received this email. For anyone who is wondering, it looks like this:

You indicated you intend to apply for financial aid but have not yet submitted the Princeton Financial Aid Application (PFAA). This form is available on the Web at https://finaidapp.princeton.edu/app/loginFreshman.jsp.

If you do not intend to apply for financial aid, please email our office at pfaa@princeton.edu so we may update our records.

Sincerely,

I don’t want to get my hopes up, either.

Has anyone not gotten it even though they have not filled out their financial aid application?

I got the same email

Just to follow-up: I received an non-automated request for a W-2 from a parent today.

Seems like someone in the other thread has not received this email:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/1627432-missed-pfaa-but-still-haven-t-gotten-an-email.html#latest

Thank you @compscistudent.

@spuding102 I didn’t get a non-automated email, so maybe those emails are the ones that are indicative of admission.

I got the same email. So many people are getting them (as it seems) that I don’t think it means anything. The person on the thread who didn’t receive the email seems to be anomaly because apparently Princeton may not have his/her information.

I remember seeing this last year, and it 100% correlated with admissions. Im almost confident that you are all in, congratulations!

Really, even if this is a really generic email? If you can find it, may I have a link to the thread? Thank you.

It seems to have a strong correlation. Congrat! And dang, I shouldn’t have sent all of documents on time perfectly! I kinda regret it.

According to the thread, there are two versions of the email. I did not get the version that seems to correlate with acceptance.

We got this email, I don’t want to get my hopes up for DS but I was curious if it could really mean good news for him next week! I’ll check back in when he gets the results on the 27th !!!

It doesn’t mean anything. Princeton is a need-blind school so its financial office is obligated to do financial aid for all applicants, regardless of admission. Don’t get your hopes up from this false hope.

I know that I should not get my hopes up. But: there’s absolutely no reason for a Financial Aid office to sift through tens of thousands rejected applicants’ financial aid profiles — e-mailing them specifically for students’ and parents’ 1040 and W2s forms if it does not prompt AT LEAST a wait list decision. Then again: this could be wishful thinking.

I got an email too. I was trying not to read too much into it. Perhaps I shouldn’t have come on CC for all this extra analysis, now I’m even more nervous, if that’s possible. :((

Did anyone who got the financial aid email get an email this morning asking to check their application portal on March 27?

No… I didn’t get any financial aid email, but I received the other email today!

@astrogirl are you missing financial aid papers?
