Missing RA Materials Due Monday

Hi y'all -

Wanted to take a break from reading applications (we've had ~12,000 in RA) to update you on the process as posted here: Missing Documents Due Monday | MIT Admissions

Quick update for our Regular Action applicants. As Matt posted last week, we have been working through our buckets and buckets of mail since the New Year. However, as of tonight, we have finished processing all mail, hand-checked all filing cabinets, scoured all of our faxes and emails, and loaded everything into our system.

If you are a prospective member of the Class of 2016, this would be a mighty good time to log into MyMIT and confirm your application tracking is complete. McGreggor also just emailed everyone who was missing components so you may have received a direct message from him.

If you have missing components - relax. This happens. We have not yet begun to review partial applications, and we never make admissions decisions unless we have sufficient information upon which to render that decision.

That said, you should move rapidly. All missing components must be received by 5 pm, Eastern Standard Time, on Monday, January 30, 2012..

Do not send your missing components by mail! If your school uses Docufide you may request that your Guidance Counselor submit the missing materials via that service. Otherwise, fax the missing documents to 617.687.9184.

Please allow for five days before contacting our office to make sure we've received and processed your newly submitted documents. If at this point you would like to withdraw your application from consideration at MIT just email us.

I also want to apologize for all of the people I haven't been able to answer via PM on CC. It's been pretty busy and I haven't been able to directly respond as much as I like.

Heyy Chris if I am willing to send an additional essay will the deadline be the same,i.e., January 30 ??

Yes, but we prefer that you do not send additional essays.

hahahaahhahaha … already made my decision eh ?? hahahahahahah … LOL just kidding please don’t take it seriously !! I asked the admissions office and told them about a circumstance and they advised me if I wanted to explain it thoroughly I should use an additional essay instead of the MYR given its limited space. That’s why the question. But if you suggest I may not write it.

P.S. whatever your reply may be please don’t say that you have already taken a decision on me, I was seriously kidding ( wow that’s kinda opposite “seriously kidding” ) !!!

If you have additional stuff to explain then sure send an extra essay in. Generally speaking we do not require additional essays since we already provide space for 6 essays (5 prompted, 1 additional info).

Heyy Thanks Chris and I truly appreciate the fact you stated in fact I even remember the line you guys stated above the supplemental document cover sheet saying that absolutely do not require any additional stuff whatsoever and I know I have already used three of em but this is my one a last chance and I want to make it count in any/every way possible. I truly appreciate the time that will be spent on my app but I still want the admission officers to have an insight on my world and to be more precise to “Prove me Wrong” … I am sure I will make it more clear to you one day, I promise !!

You guys have already started reading applications this early?

^ They generally release mid-March, want to be wrapped up maybe a week into March, that leaves about 5 weeks to do everything :)

They start with completed applications, though - don’t panic if you’re missing something.
