Kymberlee and Renee-
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. My son is a Hanzenite so Matts' disappearance hits particularly close to home. Is the Houston Police Dept involved or just the Rice PD? Please keep us posted. Hoping for a postive outcome soon!

If anyone has any info, please contact Rice police at 713-348-6000

Yeah I saw the Rice website had an emergency notification thing up... I hope they find him!

Very scary and very sad for his parents, friends and the whole Houston and Rice community. We are all hoping for a positive outcome.

Everyone should share this information - maybe someone will have seen him.

Does anyone know if this news has gone national?

re: national news:

It was reported on ABCnews.com, and was on On The Record on Fox News.

My daughter said he apparently withdrew money from his account shortly before he went missing, and no rent or expenses were due. They now suspect he disappeared willingly, but that is not confirmed.

Every time this comes up I'm afraid to look. I'm so hoping for a positive outcome.

Maybe we can hope he'll surprise his family for Christmas. The lack of information must be so painful. His information is on all the "missing persons" websites, but still, now news....

A reality is that during times like this- finals, applications, etc., people Do take off, hurt themselves, etc...for a variety of reasons- don't want be a "failure", don't want to disappoint, don't want to have to explain things

at certain times of year, things come to a head

this may or may not be the case here, but just something to be watchful for- and if you see someone with lots of pressure, give them a hug and say no matter what, you love them

Exactly, CGM. This is what they are now thinking. He studied intensely- would not even check email because it would distract him from studying. Pressure might have gotten to be too much...
