Hey all,
I submitted my ED application to Reed College 5 days ago. When I checked my status on their site, I saw everything was there with the exception of one teacher recommendation. I emailed them about it and they told me not to worry, that it usually just takes a few more days to process some teachers recommendations. Today, I got a little nervous after I saw the recommendation still hadn't been received, and when I went to my guidance counselor, I found out he was sick and out for the day, so I probably won't here from him until Monday at the earliest. Also, I checked my school forms on commonapp.org, and it said nothing about the missing rec being submitted, even though my guidance counselor said he'd take care of it over a month ago. So my question is: if it turns out one of my teacher recommendations was not turned in on time through no fault of my own and didn't arrive at Reed until a week or two after the application was due, how negatively would that effect my applications?
Thanks!
(p.s. I realize my guidance counselor has probably tuned in the recommendation, but I'm just nervous because I'm unable to reach him. I just want to know how bad a worst case scenario would be.)

Don’t worry. Schools are relatively strict about deadlines for the student portion of the application, but they allow a good bit of leeway for the other items. Just check in with your counselor as soon as you are able to next week about the status and try not to stress about this in the meantime.
