While Biomedical engineering isn’t covered, you can go to any of these schools for the listed programs at in-state rates. One has Mechanical. Often you’ll have to pay one year of out of state before the in state rates kick in, but it varies by school.

I’m a student at MSU’s engineering school (computer science, to be exact).

I believe that MSU has a very thorough educational system. The only thing that your son and his friend might have qualms with is the physics department. It’s not the greatest. Not that you don’t learn physics well. It’s just, difficult at times and not all of the teachers speak the best English :P

Interested in BME, but also interested in the computer department.

Julythe4th, what computer courses have you taken? Do you take C++, Java, both, something different?

My son is taking a class at Loyola this summer and doing research. He is working with Matlab, and has really picked it up and is enjoying it. I believe he would benefit from a university with a strong computer science program.

I’m just glad to see someone say “son” instead of “DS” for a change.

To answer your question, I’m not familiar with Mississippi State, but try here:

If you use the dropdown menu, you can look at reviews by major. There are a couple in various engineering fields, but I didn’t notice any in BME. It still might be useful, though.

ETA:
Ugh. The asterisks are for “students review dot com”
CC clearly has some issues with competitors.

I am an industrial engineering major at MS State. MS State is an engineering and ag school and has a very good engineering program. I know that they have biological engineering with a concentration in biomedical, but do not have a BS in Biomedical Eng.

Thanks MSState. That’s good enough. Found that Bioengineering is sometimes used instead of Biomedical Engineering.

Would love to hear how you like the school as an engineering major, and how you like the school in general.

Do you take any computer courses, or done any programming? Do you use Matlab, or Java or C++? Son is getting some exposure to Matlab this summer, but that was just lucky. Hoping to get more computer work in college.

Does the engineering dept offer internships/coops?

The school is great. I think that the Bio engineering majors do a lot of MatLab, C++, and VBA programming. There is a good bit of biological system simulation from what I have heard which relates to the programming stuff. Also from what I have heard a lot of Bio engineering majors typically try to go to med school after graduation.
