I took a baseline ACT my sophomore year and did not do as well as I wanted to (29). My mother mistakenly sent this score to a bunch of colleges. Years have passed, and I’m now in the college admissions process. I refreshed my application portal for my ED school, and all of a sudden, my old ACT score from my sophomore year was on the list of my test scores that had been verified. For the past couple of weeks, the only score that would show up in that section was my 1560 SAT. Now, it has both scores. Is there any way to get that old ACT score off of my application? I know that admissions officers will see that the score is from over a year ago and there is a significant improvement in the next test, but I’d prefer that they just don’t see the old ACT score at all. Is there anything I can do? Or am I just stuck with admissions officers seeing that score?
I do not think that I would worry about it.
Even a 29 on the ACT is well up into the top 10% of all students for high school seniors. You did this as a sophomore.
Perhaps more importantly, 1560 is an exceptionally high SAT score. This is high for any university. Even Caltech has a median SAT score lower than this (according to PrepScholar).
I think that you are fine. I would continue to do well in high school, focus on other aspects of your application, and do not worry at all about this.
No, I don’t think any school will overlook a recent high score due to concerns over a lower test score from two years ago.
And I don’t think there’s any way to “delete” it from a school’s records at this point.
I agree with #2 above. There isn’t a way to remove the info once they have received it.
You could email admissions and ask them to disregard that score. But why draw their attention to it? They will disregard it for sure when they see the 1560. It ain’t broke, so don’t try to fix it.
