Hello! So my daughter was accepted into SDSU and right before she got the acceptance we realized she made a mistake in her application. She didn’t put an entire year of math in the application. We originally thought she would not get accepted but it looked like she only took 3 years of math. However, now we realized that since she got a B in the class, her GPA has gone down slightly. With the B her EI is 4484 and without the class at all it is 4492. Does this seem like enough to rescind her admission? I emailed the admissions office but obviously they are busy. I am going to call today since her transcripts were received on friday, 4/20. She only recently decided on SDSU which is why we waited so long. I don’t really want to pay the 400 if she is going to get rescinded. And also, the main thing is that if her admission is rescinded then she is going to SIR at UCSD but we only have until Tuesday to do that… Any thoughts?
I would get on the phone and call them directly (she will probably have to do it as so many schools will not talk to the parent for security reasons). She can explain her situation and see what they tell her. Make sure she documents it and gets a name of the person she spoke with. Even follow up with an email to that person confirming the conversation. Good luck.
UGH I just talked to them and they said final review won’t even be until june or july so I should have her SIR to both SDSU and UCSD.
Dont forget you are not only out of your SIR money but if she needs housing that deposit is also lost. That puts SDSU at 700+ dollars. Plus probably the orientation fees and any tests they need. Son is taking the chem test this weekend and some have to take math tests for their majors.
ya she definitely needs housing. super bummer. Im just going to have her SIR to both and pay the deposits and hope all is well at SDSU. I think UCSD housing contract isn’t available until july anyway. I was so mad that she forgot to include that class. I don’t think she has to take any tests. They haven’t said anything about it anyway. How do you know if they have to take a test?
Here is the link that gubbymom posted to my comment in 2022 admitted. http://go.sdsu.edu/student_affairs/orientation/freshman-placement-exams.aspx also check my map which you can see in their portal after you sir or Google it and it will come up. It will tell you the course load each semester they should be taking
oh whoa! She has to take both of them because she engineering. thanks so much
My son is taking the chem this weekend and he will be exempt from the math since he is taking the AP Calc AB test next month which will exempt him from math 150 so no math test needed. He is also in engineering.
