hello, hello:
okay so i just checked my act scores and for my english score, my two subscores are each 18...but the test score is a 35. is this weird scaling or something?? [my reading has subscores of 18 also, but the test score is a 36.]
big thank you's to anyone who knows the answer =)

Yes it's weird scaling...and I'm too lazy to figure it out. Just know this: the subscores do not necessarily add up the the general score.

the score for each section is not computed by adding the subscores. I got 18s as well but only got a 35. so yeah. I'm not sure on how they actually get the score.

same thing happened to me in april...just gay ACT lol

Basically english has 75 question, 40 and 35 for each part of the subscore of 18. So you could technically get 1 question wrong on each half and have subscores 18 (39/40 and 34/35) yet get a 35 score total because of 73/75. Does that help?

oh okay...ew
but thanks!
