Mistake on Activity section of app?!

Under activities, I wrote that in 2014 I collected 150 sleeping bags in a homeless fundraising drive. I actually meant 100, and I accidentally put 150 because I collected 50 in 2013 and I was thinking that I collected 150 total. My essay, which references the drive, says 100 for 2014.

I already submitted it. Should I email admissions about it? Will they be willing to change it? Is it going to make a difference in the end?

I really doubt it will make a difference. I guess it depends on who reads your application, but personally I wouldn’t email them.

It’s totally fine, dude. Don’t worry about it–I doubt they’ll even notice.

Good luck!

bump?? so worried right now

I would email them… It’s best to let them know what your intentions are. If they do notice the discrepancy, they might take the legitimacy of your entire application into question.

bump

@thegivingtree - What do you want to hear, exactly? If you’re really concerned, you could always email the admissions officers to let them know–I’m sure you’re not the only one who’s hit the wrong digit on a keyboard before. If the trauma of having put down 150 vs. 100 sleeping bags is keeping you up at night, I’d go ahead and contact MIT/Caltech, but again, I don’t think it’s going to be a game-changer.

Again, good luck! I know it’s a frazzling time of year, but try to relax…you’ll make it through.
