Mistake on application

Greetings Mates!

On my application I accidentally put that I was captain of my schools Science Olympiad Team,

I’m actually a co-captain and didn’t know the difference between the two until I told someone at school.

Should I call the colleges that I made a mistake?

If I do would this hurt my chances at the colleges?

Most of the schools I applied to are ivies if thats a factor.

Cheers!

Doesn’t really matter co-captains share the authority

There’s really no difference

Did your co-captain apply to any of the same schools as you? If so, you should contact those colleges to avoid any confusion. Most likely if they noticed, they’d call your school and ask them to clarify, so you’d save them time by doing so. Years ago two students at my high school both put on their application that they were president of NHS (only one was). Some of the colleges that they both applied called our school to ask who really was president. So it really does make a difference because not putting co- implies that you and you alone have that responsibility. Although its not that big of a deal since you aren’t lying about your position, it would be the courteous thing to do.

Yes, we have like 6 captains, but the thing is we have 3 teams, the co-captains of the other teams did apply to many of the same schools as I did, but they lead the two other teams.

If it makes a difference I do pretty much all the captain work for my team, but I understand that I should’ve put co-captain

If I do let my colleges know, do you think it’d hurt my chances because it might make me appear careless?

I’d let it go. If a student told me he was the captain of a team and I later learned he was a co-captain, that wouldn’t bother me. Now if you had said you were captain of a team you weren’t even on, that I’d have issue with, but I don’t think this matters.

Good luck.
