mistake on application

my friend desperately needs help. He's really worried now becuz he didnt really know wat he was doing on his application and he marked "no" on all of his applications when they asked if he was going to apply for financial aid. wat should he do? is there any hope for him in receiving financial aid? he definitely isn't well off and he really does need the aid. I know that most college admissions offices are closed until the 3rd so wat options are left for him?

He needs to check the college's financial aid section and find out what he needs to do to apply. There's a lot of paperwork that his parents have to fill out in short order.

He can always call or e-mail the college adcoms and let them know he mistakenly checked "no" about financial aid. That's the easy part to fix. The work, though, is filling out the financial aid info.

The earlier that his parents file their tax returns for this year, the better.

I would fill out the FAFSA tommorow online and send it to the schools that he is applying to. Don't worry that tax information will need to be updated, it is important that he get started.

The admissions process is going to be going at full swing starting Monday at most schools. As Northstarmom says he can just let the adcoms know that he wants to apply for financial aid. It is getting the paperwork that is difficult. FAFSA does not even come up for filing until Jan 1 , but some schools require Profile or their own forms earlier, however. So he needs to find out what the requirements are for each school.
