Help! I accidentally gave my gpa on Cal State application as 3.84 (last year's gpa) instead of 3.76 (this year's gpa). I managed to catch it on my other applications but only after I realized that one had already gone through. I want to correct his mistake ASAP. Has anyone else done this in the past? What is the best way to correct - email or phone call or both?? I don't want them to think I did this on purpose and thereby jeopardize my application. I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

Sorry, I’m not that familiar with Cal State, or the California college system. By Cal State, do you mean the ONE university, Cal State, LA? Or do you mean a statewide application for all Cal State campuses?

If you mean just one university, then you should call or email the admissions counselor responsible for your area, notify him/her of your mistake, and ask them to fix it for you. If there are no admissions counselors assigned to specific regions at that school, you can simply call the general admissions phone number and tell them of your problem – ask them how you can fix it, and they’ll direct you to the right person.

My son has called various schools’ counselors to update his files with new information, and it was no problem at all.

(If you made your mistake on a statewide app, then I wouldn’t know what to suggest.)

Good luck!

Hi, thank you so much for your advice! There are a whole bunch of Cal State Universities scattered throughout California - I applied to four of them but luckily only made the error on one application (of course my first choice!) before I caught it and corrected it before sending through the other three.

Thanks again so much for your help… I really appreciate it. I’ll do exactly what you suggest.

Thanks.

^You’re welcome. Wishing you the best!
