Mistake on my UC application: Ethnicity

I am currently a high school senior who has been admitted to UC Davis. I was overjoyed to see that I got in, but then I received a few emails from the Davis Native American group congratulating me and informing me of their wonderful Native American service.

The problem: I’m not Native American; I’m full Chinese.

Apparently on my UC application either I mistakenly put American Indian/Alaskan Native under the USDOE Ethnicity or it was just generally mislabeled. It even conflicts with a) my name being traditionally asian b). the catagory UC Ethnicity which I correctly filled out under Chinese, and c). both my parents’ surnames which are also very traditionally asian. Either way it is grossly incorrect and now I’m incredibly concerned. I know that Native Americans are treated differently from all other ethnicities and I don’t want to have my acceptance rescinded.

I’ve already contacted the UC application service center to had this mistake fixed but it is still there. What can I possibly do at this point? Help me!

Edit: I also didn’t receive any scholarships or additional financial aid from Davis, but their Native American group keeps reaching out to me and my conscience is metaphorically killing me. Last week they even sent me a letter explaining in full detail their wonderful accommodations and a month before that they called me directly where I informed the nice lady that there must’ve been a mistake. I honestly don’t know where to go from here.

I think you assert that you were admitted on your merits, not simply because they thought you were Native American and you show up now. You’ve done everything possible to correct your mistake. Now move on.

UCs do not use race or ethnicity in admission.
