Mistake on Resume..help!

Ok, so I realized that so many posts come up under College Admissions so many posts go unanswered...that happened to mine so I'm going to put it under the columbia forum because I need urget feedback..

So I did this volunteer work for the UN this summer through telecommuting basis. But on my resume under summer activities, I wrote that I did an internship without realizing that it can mislead and exaggerate my volunteer work.....so I wrote a letter and I'm planning to send it to the colleges I'm applying to....

Do you think this is a good idea?? My letter came out to be about half a page and I'm worried that the admissions people will get annoyed because something minor is taking their time.....

Any thoughts on this??

It doesn't need to be a half page.

You could probably just write an email like

"Regarding my application #xxxx: I listed "UN internship" under summer activities. It should read "UN volunteering" instead. Thank you and I apologize for the mistake."

i'm a bit confused about what the distinction is here....if there is a description that alludes to the fact that you did stuff online or at home or whatever telecommuting means then that's fine ...if you are getting picky about the distinction between "internship" and "volunteering" then you're neurotic

haha thx thebeef and Shraf
your suggestions are well received!
