My daughter mistakenly applied to Smeal instead of DUS. She has a 3.8 weighted GPA but only a 1220 SAT. If declined from Smeal, would she be considered for DUS?
Yes, I believe so. A friend of mine by accident applied to Smeal and did not get in, however when she called admissions they just told her to send them a second choice major. Other people have had the experience of getting into the 2+2, however. It is not too late to email admissions and change your major, another friend of mine changed from Smeal to DUS just a few weeks ago and heard back last week.
Thank you. She emailed admissions a few weeks ago and was told that changing her major could negatively impact her. Ugh. Maybe we’ll call this time.
Yes, I would try calling, it’s much easier to explain your concern and be reassured through actual communication. I really do not think changing the major will be of negative impact, I just think she may have to wait a tad bit longer for a decision, however it may be worth it in the long run. Let me know how everything turns out. Good luck!
Apparently at this point DUS is full so odds are low. It would have been better to call as soon as the mistake was discovered, now it’s very risky. Do call.
