Greetings, I was just admitted into the California State University Fullerton and I have a big question. I just got an email today that my application is on "A20 Hold" so that the school may review my transcript, (which I ordered from my current school to be sent via USPS priority). And I noticed in the body of the message it said "please send us an unofficial transcript from every institution attended" and called the school to clarify. I was always under the impression the only transcript I needed to send was from the school the units are being transferred from. I'm really scared now, because I mistakenly didn't add a school I attended 11 years ago on my application, and I absolutely want to be in full compliance. Can I make an amendment and send that transcript along to the school? When I was filing my application online I absolutely thought my schools reported was for units being applied from that school. When I started at my current JC, I literally started my whole educational career over again never thinking I had to go back and deal with my old school since I didn't transfer those units (did very poorly as a fresh from HS kid). I thought that I could start over with a clean slate. Please help! Had I fully understood, I would have absolutely listed my old school. I’m not one to go against policy. I would rather be up front than not. What do you guys think since I haven’t yet accepted my invitation to attend the school? Can I fix this?

This is not a fun experience. I have done the same exact thing. First, National Student Clearinghouse has a self help section that you can pay 10 bucks, enter your full name and the name of the college you attended and you will find out if you have anything on record. Next this is what I did, I have wrote letters to all the schools I applied too with my unofficial transcripts attached and explained the whole situation. Last, I will leave with my opinion that this part of the education system is complete garbage. This has to change, there has to be some sort of expiration dates on unwanted college transcripts and you should be able to retake a class regardless the grade if you so choose.

I will keep you updated, it just happend to me as well. I am waiting to see if it had a negative impact on my admissions. So far all the schools have simply responded with, thank you for being proactive about the situation and updated my application with the new lower GPA.

Do not let them be the ones to find out. Chances are at this point you have already slipped through the cracks, but the risk is not worth it. You don’t want to risk having your admission rescinded or even worse your degree later on. (I am firm believer those things do not really happen, but I wouldn’t chance it.)

I really appreciate all the feedback. I have my letter typed up and I’m going to get my transcript tomorrow. Good lord the stress is killing me.

I’m going through the same thing right now. I just sent the transcripts from the institution that I forgot to list, to the institution that I’m transferring (hopefully) into. I have to say that I’m afraid. You see I did not do very well AT ALL at my first attempt at college. However since then I cleaned up my act and went to another community college and did very well.

So far the only thing that has happened is that there has been a hold placed on my account. The transcripts are in the mail right now.

So my question is should I go ahead and email admissions? Or should I wait and wait to see what they do? I know that I will probably have to explain myself at some point but I don’t want to risk saying something that might be interpreted the wrong way.

How old were the transcripts at the schools you guys omitted?
Did you guys receive financial aid there?
I’m glad you guys are able to take care of it right now.
It sounds like most of the colleges will be understanding.
