Mistakes in UChicago essay-- do i still have a chance?

I used a negative word, which i thought had positive indications, to describe the kind of person i hope to become at UChicago. It's like using "naive" in the place of "innocent".

I omitted the subject of a sentence.

I didn't see UChicago's why essay requirements --- 1~2 paragraphs, when I finished the first draft of my Why UChi essay, which had 4~5 paragraphs. When I was to submit my app and suddenly spotted that requirement, it was about 4 hrs before deadline. GOSH! i RUSHED my Why Chicago essay, and submitted at 23:59. I had no time to read through the essay again, so I never found out the stupid mistakes above before i submitted. I don't know how much harm this can cause?

I'm an international student with fair toefl and SAT scores, no AP, very very mediocre extracurriculars, and a personal statement with a quite cliche topic.

Do i still have a chance?

But i did try my best to express my true feelings in the personal statement— despite its cliche topic!

Small mistakes like that aren’t going to make or break your application. Probably shouldn’t have waited until 23:59 to submit your app, though.

It’s my impression that the little mistakes are not as bad as you might think. Essays are still, however, a very important aspect of UChicago admissions. If you think that your essays are still good overall, I wouldn’t worry about omitting a subject, or misusing a single word.
