What do you think is the biggest mistake you've made in high school?

High school dropped German III and IV due to only three students being interested and not acting faster to compensate for it on transcript

This isn’t in high school but I wish I had joined band in middle school so that I could be in band in high school. I wish I knew how to play a musical instrument, but of course I didn’t join band and learn to play one.

I wish I had taken AP Stats instead of Intro to Engineering Design. Worst decision ever. AP Stats is easier and has better teachers (my school has the highest AP Stats pass rate in the nation) than Engineering as well.

Also, although this wasn’t a mistake, I wish I had joined Colorguard freshman year. I love it, and I would have a chance at becoming captain senior year in that case as well.

I wish that I would have been more involved freshman year.

Not taking enough years of foreign language.

Taking standardized tests more seriously

@OrangeAndWhite, like the PSAT/SAT?

AP, ACT, and SATII’s @albert69

Oh.

It’s interesting that everyone is talking about academic regrets even though that wasn’t specified.

I was a full-time dual-enrollment student in my senior year and I wish I had done this for two years because the classes were free. My other mistakes, like not taking four years of a foreign language, were ultimately inconsequential.

Not trying hard enough in Spanish

I wish I hadn’t slacked off in middle school and given up on the things I love (piano, tennis, writing). I also wish I had learned the cello at an early age so I could have joined orchestra in high school.

Not studying for standardized tests and not getting involved in more clubs early.

I wished I took AP stats instead of AP Macro

I wish I would have dropped out of high school, and gone to some pre-college program instead. My state has one that accepts a fair amount of people. I could be graduating this year with a college degree… I also wish I would have taken more classes that I was interested in, and not ones that I thought were important. Or focused more on my writing and music.
My mistake was… making mistakes! Or searching for perfection.

Slacking off in Chem and math this algebra2 w/trig semester. Ended up with a B and a C, so I’m not happy about that.

Most of my HS mistakes were socially-related…I guess worrying too much about what other people think of me

1) Staying in classes that were too difficult for me/not seeking academic help when it was clearly needed!

2) Not getting help for emotional problems until I was at the end of the tunnel.

I cannot stress this enough- find someone to talk to about whatever problems you’re having! Preferably an adviser, counselor, teacher, etc. People are more sympathetic and kind than we give them credit for.

I wish I had taken school seriously freshman year. But I didn’t, and there’s nothing I can do about it now.
