<p>I mean, I thought it was a pretty good response. Like… I feel if I had said something about “Oh… I like to sit up late at night reading books about string theory while solving partial differential equations” it would have appeared that I was trying to hard (not to mention lying). Plus, it shows you are a more well rounded person. And just as with any college, MIT does like people that are super involved and really awesome at one thing, but they also want people who enjoy things from all different areas.</p>

<p>Would’ve been applying EA, but as it’s not an option for internationals I’ll be applying regular. The application just went live; I’m checking it out as I write this.</p>

<p>Has anyone made an account on the MIT website to start the application? On my page it shows “interview information” with a doctor in my area. Is anyone going to contact their interviewer soon? Should I do it in the summer? (I am visiting MIT next friday so I’ll wait till after then) Is the interview required?</p>

<p>^Be sure to note that you don’t have an EC near you in the application (there’s a place where they ask for interview status) so that the interview can be waived and not affect your application.
Ask around though - perhaps you do have an EC somewhere near you or something and it just didn’t pop up. Seems weird that Shanghai wouldn’t have one.</p>
