how was ur interview?

I had my MIT interview on Sept. 25th. I looked on my myMIT account yesterday, which was over 2 weeks after my interview, and it said that my EC hadn’t filed his report, so I contacted MIT about it, & within 5 mins he filled his report.lol

& also I submitted Part 2 of my application yesterday, 10/10/10, at 10:10.10 P.M.
Hopefully it’ll make me lucky.

is anyone submitting supplementary materials (particularly an extra letter of rec)?

i was thinking of getting one from my boy scout leader, since scouting is completely unaffiliated with school and none of my teachers can say much about it?

Hey guys,

I’m also an MIT '15 hopeful applying EA. I have a question; where on My MIT does it state whether your EC has submitted a report or not? I had my interview last month and it went great. But I can’t seem to confirm whether my EC sent in the report yet! Thanks in advance :)

@longlife<3: Go to “Online Application Forms & Tracking” and it will tell you if your EC has filed his or her report yet. If your EC hasn’t filed a report over 2 weeks after your interview, just click on the link to contact MIT about it. I did it and within 5 minutes my EC filed his report.

my interview’s this friday. tips anyone?

My interview was amazing. I loved it, went very smoothly, got to say everything I wanted to say, had a nice overall conversation :D

I’m submitting an extra letter of rec from my engineering mentor from robotics and I’m doing it also because it exposes another side to a big EC from a non-teacher POV.

@ace1293: For tips, I’d say read the Interview thread in the MIT forum. It basically covers everything you should know going in. Two big tips though. Relax and be yourself :D

I just filed my report with MIT about my interview and it updated to Processed about a minute later. How exciting. :p

Meh…I’m not going to bother to apply EA due to all the stress. I’m not ready for MIT, or Caltech.

quick question: is it okay if we exceed the word limit on the essays by like 50-75 words?
i think when i went to the info session they said it was okay, but i just want to amke sure

Yes, it’s okay. My usual guideline is that you should be within 10-15% of the stated word limit, but that’s a suggestion, not an application requirement.

btw, can I upload pictures on my essay? I can for common app, but it doens’t seem to be the case for MIT

I’m pretty sure that it’ll only allow you to submit text only on the MIT essays, but I could be wrong.

Only 14 days left!! O_O

That is scary. I just had a friend at MIT look over my essays, and she said one was good and the others were eh. So I’m looking through them again making sure they say what I need them to say. How do you guys know when to stop taking criticism and listen to your own ideas about the essays?

go with your gut. i like to take other’s criticism in consideration, but i dont obsess if they tell me that a part i feel really strong about is weak. its not their voice or opinion…its mine. if you feel strong about it, jsut go with it

btw i just had my interview = FAIL

Hey guys! I was wondering do you know how long it takes for them to process evaluation letters and such? It’s because one of my teachers sent my recommendation letter almost two weeks ago and on my myMIT tracking page, it says that they still have not received it :[

I have kind of the same question with my son’s ACT score. The tracking page shows his first test (June 10), but does not show the receipt of the September 10 score. I assume the admissions office is very busy, but at what point should he follow up?

One of the admissions officers (often Matt) will post a blog entry when they’re done sorting the mail, usually in mid-November ([e.g., last year on Nov 18](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/deadlines/ea_update_app_tracking_more.shtml)). There’s no need to worry up until that point – they are receiving a lot of mail every day, and it takes the mail room staff a while to process everything.

And even if they post the entry saying they’re through the mail and you’re missing something, there’s still no need to worry – you’ll be able to send it again, no problem. At that point, they will usually ask that those materials be faxed to them.
