CPU…Where is the link that says 12/17?

It was on the admissions page. The website has been going in and out. The 12/17 date disappeared for me when I refreshed, but a friend was able to see it on a different device.

mitadmissions.org

The 12/13 matches with what they told questbridge applicants. Even after I got selected to Stanford through Questbridge, MIT emailed me asking to apply for Early action (o.o). In that email it said 12/13

So its either late Saturday night or tomorrow evening? That’s helpful! :)

Sent from my PC36100 using CC App

I saw the earlier post on the admissions page too. It said 12/17 at 12:17 EST. But now it seems to be gone.

I’ve heard the email said 12/15 from my QB friends.

Chris Peterson said it’s highly unlikely to the before the 15th, and definitely not on the 15th.

Why would they post it on the site and then change it? Weird things have been happening with the site since last night, though.

Either way, we will have our decisions within 5 days. We will know definitely tonight when they finalize the site and get it up and running.

EDIT: either saturday afternoon (not night) or tomorrow evening, is what you meant.

Correct. My mistake.

I just wanted to confirm that CPU and Whateverhappens are both correct. I also saw the link on MIT admissions.org this morning and it clearly said 12/17 at 12:17 PM and underneath the announcement was a link that said “access admissions.”
Unfortunately, the whole announcement disappeared when I refreshed my page. If I see it again, I will snip it and post on this site.
Been following this site for a while but havent really posted until today…

MITconcernedmom- thank you

Zack- no prob

I saw it too! Wondering if they are planning to change the releasing date???

^From the 17th?

snagged a screenshot this morning

^yes. 12/17 @12:17!

thanks for the screen shot! We got the proof!

Any idea why 12/17 is a significant date/number? Seems like they’re pushing the 12:17 thing pretty hard.

It would be pretty hilarious if they posted that up for a few minutes on “accident” just so us poor applicants would begin wildly speculating about it :(

December 17, 1903 was the first airplane flight by Wright brothers… but I doubt MIT would choose 17 because of that. i just want them to do it Friday instead… much easier for them, they can go on break sooner!

Funny you say that… I called MIT admissions an hour ago as this whole thing bothered me. The lady who answered said that she was not aware of the announcement on the website and that she had not been informed yet as to when the decisions will be announced. Seems really odd.

The plot thickens…

I got the same response, MITconcernedmom. She said “the committee was still behind closed doors.”

My guess is this: that date is accurate–the committee has decided–but it was accidentally put up onto the website. When they send out the emails, they’ll make the official notification to their staff as well.

I find it unlikely that they went to the trouble of choosing 12:17 on 12/17 just to change the date. Who knows, though!
