I know, me too! I have never been so anxious in my life. If I can’t even wait another week or so, I’m going to go craaazy if I’m deferred. A lot of other schools like UPenn moved their decision release dates up, and I believe MIT had fewer applications in the early round this year, so hopefully we get results sooner too!

wait how do we find out? do they email us and then we have to sign in and they’ll tell us from there?
and i’ve been hearing 5pm and 9pm EST. which one is it?

^It was at 9:00 two years ago, but I’m assuming there will be a blog post about when decisions come out for this year.

I’m like habitually stalking the blogs to see when decisions come out. I just want an answer(prayfully, a positive one), but an answer nonetheless.

I’m stalking the blogs too! It doesn’t help that my other early schools have yet to announce their release dates; one of them is not announcing the date (we’re just being surprised with the decisions) and another one gave out a very vague estimate…

I got into the University of Awesome People!!! Woohoo!

Has anyone spoken to any varsity coaches? I have and I’m wondering if you think this will increase my chance of admission even just a little bit. He said that I would make varsity and really help the team just as a freshman. I love love love MIT!!

@APchemistry - UAP? Is that University of Asia Pacific, or what? MIT is full of awesome people, of course, but their decisions still haven’t been released (ANXIETY!) so I can only assume you mean somewhere else…

@germfreak - I’m not an athlete, so no, I haven’t spoken to coaches, but as a general rule, yes, a good recommendation from a varsity coach should help your chances a little bit, as long as you’re otherwise qualified. For instance, if there was another person who was identical in every way and exactly as qualified as you but didn’t have that varsity sport, you would be more likely to be chosen than them. Not sure about your other qualifications, though, so there’s no telling. Good luck, though!

Awww guys im so happy im not the only one that stalks the blogs all the time!! I am going crazy waiting for this decision!

Yep! I talked to one of the coaches and they wrote me a really good rec. but they can’t guarantee spots as its D3

@techogecko: It’s in response to the link I posted, bullet point number 1 (read it and you’ll understand)

@germfreak and eagleeye: I was also “recruited” for my sport, meaning that the coach submitted a letter of recommendation for me. When I talked to her, she said that MIT accepts ~30% of the recruited athletes, which is considerably higher than the overall admit rate, but certainly not in anyone’s favor. The way I see it, the odds are still against me, so I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m not being pessimistic, but I’d rather be pleasantly surprised (or more likely get what I expect, which is a deferral/rejection) than be disappointed.

ahhh i know I keep trying to tell myself I’m not getting in, but the fact is I’m going to be insanely disappointed if I do not. Hopefully we’ll be hearing sometime this week with regards to when decisions will be released!

we won’t be hearing till next week, apparently…

but I guess they are being thorough, and reading the applications a lot. MITChris says he wants a holiday break as much as we do, and I’m assuming this to be true. Hopefully they can finish evaluating the applications in a comfortable time frame for all and then everyone can have a nice holiday break.

If I’m accepted, I’m definitely flying to Cambridge the next day to buy all kinds of pointless things saying MIT :D

heyy guys … anyone got news on the whereabouts of exact date of decisions release ??

Chris said they’ll probably release the decision date next week:

"We’ll probably send something out next week alerting folks of the decision date.

Posted by: Chris Peterson on December 5, 2011"

So I’m guessing the decisions will go live the beginning of next next week?

usually the alert comes out a week before the actual results, so if the alert is released say monday the 12th, the results are probably like a week after that so like 19th ish maybe right?

did anyone else’s stomach just drop when they saw the “MIT 2016 EA results thread”?!?!?!?!?!?!

Christmas=ruined.

^ agreed…(unless some really sweet acceptance notification comes, but then again that would trump any amount of awesomeness I experience on any other day regardless)
