I have been doing track and field for all 3 years. I have A's and B's. But I got 1 c in pascal junior year. I got B's and one c junior year because I got a seizure in the middle of the year. I am in Physics and Chem club. Math team. National French Honors Society. I am really into Architecture. My dad works for a French Bank. BNP Paribas so He goes around the world. He gets me pictures of various buildings and monuments. I have traveled in India and America and Ive been to France and seen the monuments and buildings and there. My Dad got me pictures and buildings from Taiwan, Australia, singapore. Ive Benn drawing buildings and been makking models since I was 5. Do I have a chance at MIT or PRinceton or Other good universities?

This should be posted in the MIT forum, but…

What is your estimated class rank? AP and SAT scores? GPA is probably a bit low for MIT, but an explanation of the circumstances surrounding your seizure may help. Perhaps include something about it in one of your essays, maybe detailing how you overcame the problem. I hear schools like that type of thing. MIT says they want to see kids making the most of the opportunities available to them and continuing to challenge themselves. You can write about how you are doing that. They also like to see a passion for science (or engineering/math/architecture/etc.), which you could convey in your essays.

yeah my schools still teaching pascal. But i think im in top ten percent. I got a 3 in european history but I messed up in calc and stat. right now 2000-2100ish. hopefully 2200-2300. can I make it?

If this is posted on the MIT board, perhaps MITChris or Molly can chime in.

From what I see here, looks like MIT is highly unlikely. As for “other good universities”, there are plenty of matches for you. I would think that MIT, Princeton, Stanford, and the other “best of the best” are extreme reaches, but many other top schools are possible. Best choices depend on your preferences (size, location, price, etc.). Reply with your preferences and we can name appropriate schools for you to investigate. Apply to a few of these matches, plus MIT as a reach (you never know), and one or two safeties.

All are very good schools, and more attainable than MIT. All are very competitive for admissions, but your stats are within range. Also consider Carnegie Mellon, Perdue, RPI, WashU, RIT, Syracuse, and Cincinnati. All are good architecture programs, some may even be possible safeties for you. Also look into your state’s flagship school. From your list, I suspect you are somewhere in the midwest. Every state in that region has a good option (Ohio St, Michigan St, Illinois Institute of Tech, etc.).

if I get a 2250 or above. get 800’s on SAT II’s and get straight A’s senior year. write a really moving application essay. get good recs could I get into MIT? and do you have to get interview?

Those test scores would help, but your senior year grades will not be much of a factor. You will be applying in the middle of the school year, so your final grades will not be part of their decision.

These “what if’s” are counterproductive. Just do your best to improve what you can, apply to MIT as a reach, apply to several other schools mentioned above, and also a safety or two. In the interim, research all these potential schools to narrow down your list. Visit a few to see if they are really good for you. Also visit MIT–you may end up actually preferring a different school, you never know.
